An Overview: The Department of Homeland Security Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Final Rule
John will present an overview of this new Department of Homeland security rule that applies to any facility that possesses the chemicals of interest. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards Final Rule was published in the Federal Register on November 20, 2007. If your facility possesses or plans to possess any of the 324 chemicals of interest in quantities above thresholds listed in the Final Rule's Appendix A (Attached is a copy), you may be required to complete the Chemical Security Assessment Tool (CSAT) Top-Screen.

Global Warming and Going Green - Issue Review
In this session we will view a webinar entitled "Face It" presented by Architecture 2030. Architecture 2030, a non-profit, non-partisan and independent organization, was established in response to the global-warming crisis by architect Edward Mazria in 2002. 2030's mission is to rapidly transform the US and global Building Sector from the major contributor of greenhouse gas emissions to a central part of the solution to the global-warming crisis. Our goal is straightforward: to achieve a dramatic reduction in the global-warming-causing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of the Building Sector by changing the way buildings and developments are planned, designed and constructed. As time permits we will also view a KQED 10 minute piece entitled "Green Building Revolution".

High Performance Facility Design
A rapidly growing segment of the design profession focuses on high performance working and learning environments - not only using less natural resources and energy, but focusing on healthful and safe indoor and outdoor environments. One tool used is the US Green Building Council's leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. The UTHSCH School of Nursing is an example of this holistic design, construction and operations refocusing on life cycle resource stewardship rather than short term costs.

Industrial Hygiene Case Studies
Jan will give us a sneak preview of two poster sessions that will be presented at the AIHCE in Minneapolis this year. The topics are:
Hydrogen Sulfide Exposures Associated with Molten Transfers
This presentation will include a discussion of H2S exposures associated with molten sulfur transport by rail, ship, barge and train at a local terminal facility.
