“Bug Du Jour” or What Next?

Margaret is an infectious disease expert who will deliver this timely and interesting presentation subtitled “The Tale of Emerging Infectious Diseases - in the Late 20th and early 21st Century". The talk will include an international perspective, and the US impact of current public health issues including SARS, Airport Malaria, West Nile Virus and Monkey Pox.

A Hospital Based Program for the Surveillance and Prevention of Occupationally Acquired Disease

This presentation will include one hospital's approach to controlling diseases such as TB and blood borne pathogens. It will include an overview of the BBP standard and the Texas Children's program and approach to disease surveillance and immunization. This team of speakers will also cover the history of TB guidelines including pre-employment screening, annual ppd testing, and the latest development, which places N95 under the general industry respirator standard.

Food Safety, Food Borne Illness and Proper Food Handling Techniques

Many industrial hygienists are charged with the safety of operations in their facility cafeterias. Food safety also comes into play for IH's during events that require large scale catering such as work stoppages and emergency events. Chirag will cover the critical issues for food safety and provide an overview of potential food borne illnesses.
