Management, Insurance, and Business Continuity Primer for Industrial Hygienists

In recent years, many safety programs have been involved in organizational realignment, shifting from a series of stand-alone units to assimilation into comprehensive environmental health and safety programs. Dr. Emory will present an overview of risk management including insurance purchase and management, injury prevention, and providing insight of how tradional industrial hygiene activities can be shifted to inprove the well being of the employee and bottom line of the organization. Suggested strategies for adapting health and safety programs to the risk managment organizational environment will be presented, and ample time will be allowed for questions, answers, and discussion.

Case Study of Los Control Application resulting in 80% reduction in workmans' compensation costs

Ms. Hanson and Davis will provide an overview of classic risk management/safety loss control project which has resulted in significant savings in our cost of insurance over a 6 year period. Cost dropped from $1.03/$100.00 payroll to $0.25/$100.00 payroll from 2000 to 2005. Mary and Marlis will review how departments were targeted fro training and how front line workers participated in the establishment of engineering control or work practice changes that ultimately provided for a safer work environment.
