Health Effects and Occupational Medicine Concerns of Silica
Dr. Carson will help define the parameters of the health effects associated with workplace exposures to crystalline silica. He will also discuss pertinent occupational medicine aspects, the disease process, and other concerns of interest to industrial hygienists.

Crystalline Silica Concerns Associated with the Concrete Cutting Industry
Kellie will discuss current issues with crystalline silica in the concrete cutting industry. Holes, Inc. personnel are involved in a task force organized by this industry to collect and present occupational exposure data to OSHA for consideration related to the Special Emphasis Program for this substance. She will present the "industry" side of the story for consideration.

Occupational Exposure Monitoring Data for the Concrete Cutting Industry From a Commissioned Workplace Exposure Assessment Project
Jan Koehn will present the project air sampling strategy and industrial hygiene monitoring data documented for crystalline silica from a workplace exposure assessment project. A total of eight types of specific concrete cutting job tasks were monitored during full work shifts within the summer of 2004 for all forms of crystalline silica involving Holes, Inc. personnel at field work sites.

- Potential exposure related to use of protective tiles on the space shuttle with silica content;
- Potential health issues for Aerogel - Amorphous Silica, "When Silica is NOT in the Crystalline Form"; and,
- NASA Exploration Vision - Toxicity of Soils and Plantary Simulants, Planning, Training, and Exploration.
